Thomas C's Story
My Life:
Dad was in Air Force so moved around a lot as a child
Lived in various states around the country including Florida, Nebraska, Pennsylvania and California where I stayed.
Omaha Nebraska - 1-6th grade
Remember having a lot of fun in the snow in Nebraska as a child. Snow forts, Snow ball fights and sledding. Rode our bicycle everywhere in the summer, I remember riding way out on gravel roads to get to a field with abandoned B25s that we played in!
Pennsylvania - 7th grade
Lived with my Dads parents for a year while he was serving in Vietnam.
Beale AFB, Calif - 8-10 grade
Another fun place, Had endless fields behind our back yard with miles of dirt trails that I could ride my motorcycle on (trail bike). Also was into building model air planes (the kind you fly on a line). Remember playing a lot of football in back yards (no fences there).
Roseville, Ca - 11-12 and Jr. College
Roseville was not as exciting as Beale. Remember commuting 1hr each way to Marysviille in the summer to drive farm equipment. Hard long working hours but I made a lot of money in a short 6-8 weeks! lost a lot of weight and I was already pretty light. I think a was only around 130 lbs! Got up to 160 after high school,
Went to Sierra College in Rocklin and got an AA degree in drafti...Expand for more
ng technology.
Sacramento:
Moved out of my parents house when I got my first real job soon after graduating with AA. I loved the freedom! I had some good times and bad times. I spent a lot of my free time just hanging out with a few close friends. Had a friend that was a pretty good mechanic that helped me build a 1965 and 1967 mustang. The 65 was pretty custom and I used to take it out to the drag strip for fun.
The Bad time was when I lost my Job. Took me over a year to get decent employment again and it turned out to be a cool job because I got to use, and program a computer that drew up charts (novelty for the mid 80s!). This is Where I met Diane who I started dating after I left for other work. We got married in 86
Caltrans:
I finally was offered a position with Caltrans in 89 and have been working there ever since. I starting out doing Drafting and now do Engineering application support.
Children:
We have a son and daughter (born 91, 95). Life has never been the same since!
They were into soccer! Especially my son. He was in Metro League and HS team all through his HS years. Went to a lot of soccer games!
Love to go camping and hiking. Been to Yosemite many times. Like to Snow Ski with my son.
Son graduated in 2015 with BS in Civil Engineering.
